The 2026/27 Europa League, marking the 56th edition of the tournament, is nearing the conclusion of its qualification phase. The final of this season's competition will be held at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany.
This season, the tournament has navigated several qualification stages. The first round featured teams from the main path, where clubs like Dynamo Kyiv secured their progress after a penalty shootout against Universitatea Cluj. The second qualifying round saw further eliminations, narrowing the field for those remaining in the competition.
The third qualifying round combined the Champions Path and the Main Path, determining the participants for the decisive playoff round. Notable results included Benfica's commanding 7-2 aggregate victory over Hearts and Besiktas' successful progression past Hradec Kralove.
Teams are now preparing for the playoff qualification round, scheduled for August 20 and 27. Winners of these ties will secure their places in the main stage of the Europa League, while those defeated will transfer to the Conference League.
The main phase of the tournament is set to begin in September 2026 and will continue until January 2027, before moving into the knockout stages. The final match of the season is scheduled for May 26, 2027.
