The long road to recovery for Real Madrid defender Eder Militao is nearing its end. After five months on the sidelines, the 26-year-old has successfully passed his final physical assessment under the supervision of Dr. Lasse Lempainen, the specialist who performed his surgery earlier this year.
Dr. Lempainen visited the club's Valdebebas facility to personally evaluate the defender's fitness. Following the check-up, the surgeon expressed satisfaction with the progress made and commended the collaboration between himself and the club’s medical staff. The goal is now to ensure a safe transition back to high-level performance.
Militao's return is timely for manager Jose Mourinho, who has navigated recent months with a reshuffled backline, often forced to play individuals out of their natural positions to mitigate the defensive void. The Brazilian’s presence is expected to restore much-needed leadership and stability at the heart of the defense.

Despite the medical green light, the club is adopting a cautious approach. Militao will follow a bespoke conditioning program to prepare for the intensity of competitive action. The club aims for him to be fully integrated into the squad and ready to contribute to the busy October schedule, featuring both La Liga and Champions League fixtures.
This injury marks another hurdle in a difficult period for the player, who has spent nearly 800 days on the treatment table since the start of the 2023-24 season, including two separate ACL ruptures. His return is also a significant development for the Brazil national team, with staff keeping a close watch on his form ahead of upcoming international challenges.
