Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano has departed the France national team camp following their 1-1 draw against Italy.
The 27-year-old centre-back was dismissed after picking up a second yellow card for a challenge on Moise Kean in the final minutes of the match. The resulting automatic one-match suspension rules him out of France's upcoming UEFA Nations League fixture against Belgium.
The French Football Federation confirmed that the defender was released from their Clairefontaine base on Saturday morning to return to Munich. This early arrival allows Upamecano to rejoin his club training sessions under Vincent Kompany ahead of schedule.
For Bayern, the defender’s return is a welcome boost as they manage a congested autumn calendar. The Bavarian side is currently preparing for a crucial away trip to Augsburg in the Bundesliga, where they aim to maintain pressure on league leaders Borussia Dortmund.
