Davide Ancelotti to take over as Lille head coach
Davide Ancelotti has reached an agreement to succeed Bruno Genesio as the head coach of Ligue 1 side Lille.

Lille have secured a structural agreement to appoint Davide Ancelotti as their new head coach. The 36-year-old Italian tactician will replace Bruno Genesio, who departed the club despite leading Lille to a third-place finish in Ligue 1 and securing automatic qualification for the Champions League.
This move marks a significant career milestone for Ancelotti. He previously managed Brazilian side Botafogo, where he recorded 15 victories in 33 matches, and has been serving as an assistant for the Brazilian national team since March 2026. He is expected to continue his duties with the Selecao alongside his new club role.
Ancelotti possesses deep familiarity with French football, having served as a fitness coach at PSG between 2012 and 2013. His linguistic skills and understanding of the division’s dynamics were cited as key factors in his appointment as the club looks toward a new era.
The incoming manager faces an immediate challenge, preparing the team for the 2026-27 Champions League campaign. His squad includes high-potential talent such as forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo. Ancelotti will be tasked with navigating the summer transfer market to bridge the competitive gap between Lille and league champions PSG.
