Celtic report £4.8m loss as revenue drops by 22.7%

Scottish club Celtic have announced an after-tax loss of £4.8 million for the financial year ending June 30, a significant shift from the £33.9 million profit recorded 12 months earlier.
The club attributed the financial decline largely to their failure to secure participation in the Champions League group stages last season. Figures show a 22.7% drop in revenue to £111 million, while cash in the bank has decreased to £66.4 million from £77.3 million the previous year.
Interim chairman Brian Wilson described the 2025-26 campaign as "more turbulent than anyone would have wished for." The season saw the departure of Brendan Rodgers and a brief, unsuccessful eight-game spell under Wilfried Nancy. Stability was eventually restored by the return of Martin O'Neill, who guided the team to a league and Scottish Cup double.
Wilson highlighted that the club invested £31.6 million in new recruits during the summer, though he did not disclose proceeds from the departures of several key players, including Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels, and Reo Hatate.
Currently, Celtic are competing in the Europa League following their exit from the Champions League play-offs. Their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership has narrowed to two points following consecutive losses to rivals Rangers.
