Borussia Dortmund prepared to let two stars depart on free transfers

While neither player is currently seeking an exit this summer, the club is prepared to allow their contracts to expire, letting them leave on free transfers. According to transfermarkt.de, their market valuations are modest enough that the club can absorb the financial impact of losing them without receiving a transfer fee.

Within the manager's plans, the Austrian midfielder and the Algerian defender are considered important squad assets rather than guaranteed starters. Last term, Bensebaini made 32 appearances for the club, while Sabitzer featured in 34 matches.

The club maintains a strict policy regarding expiring deals, aiming to avoid situations where players enter the final year of their contracts with uncertain futures. Consequently, Dortmund has already extended the terms of Felix Nmecha and Nico Schlotterbeck, while ongoing negotiations continue with Karim Adeyemi.
