Borussia Dortmund have significantly strengthened their squad with the official capture of Joey Veerman. The club confirmed the permanent transfer of the talented Dutch midfielder from PSV, addressing a clear need for creative control and technical proficiency in the middle of the pitch.
Veerman arrives in Germany with a strong track record, having secured three consecutive Eredivisie titles between 2023 and 2026, alongside two KNVB Cup trophies from the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons.
Joey is a player whose skills will be of enormous help to us. We have deliberately focused our transfer activities this summer on central midfield, because with Pascal Groß and Salih Özcan, we’ve lost two players there since the start of the year—and we plan to use Emre Can in central defense once he returns to the team. Sporting Director Ole Book highlighted Veerman’s vision and high-level performance consistency, noting his experience with the Dutch national team. The midfielder will now undergo pre-season preparations to adapt to the intensity and pace of the Bundesliga.
With the formalities complete, focus now shifts to his potential debut in black and yellow. The club’s hierarchy views this high-profile addition as a key catalyst for a competitive campaign both domestically and in European competition.
