Slovenian club Celje has officially announced the signing of their academy graduate Benjamin Verbic. The 32-year-old winger has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2030.

Verbic, who was born in Celje and took his first steps in professional football there, returns home following a stint in Greece with Levadiakos, where he made 24 appearances, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

He is best remembered by many for his time with Dynamo Kyiv, where he spent four years between early 2018 and February 2022. During his spell with the Ukrainian side, he featured in 121 matches, tallying 37 goals and 12 assists.

The move comes at a significant time for Celje, who were crowned Slovenian champions last season. The club is currently navigating the Champions League qualifying rounds, having already moved past Egnatia. They are now set to face Ararat-Armenia in the third qualifying round.
