BBC to broadcast Cymru Premier games for next three years

BBC Cymru Wales has entered into a new agreement with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to provide live coverage of the Cymru Premier, the top tier of Welsh football. The three-year deal ensures that a minimum of 20 live games will be broadcast each season on BBC iPlayer, running until 2029.

In addition to live matches, BBC Sport Online will provide extensive updates on the league. The broadcast schedule kicks off on Saturday, 15 August, with Barry Town United hosting Cardiff Met, followed by Ammanford against Connah's Quay Nomads on 22 August.

Carolyn Hitt, BBC Wales head of sport, stated that the move reinforces the broadcaster's commitment to Welsh football. This development coincides with the league's 35th edition, which has seen an expansion from 12 to 16 clubs and a shift in match scheduling toward Friday evenings.

Jack Sharp, FAW head of domestic leagues, described the partnership as a significant step for the competition's profile. By doubling the free-to-air offering compared to the previous season, the FAW aims to reach more supporters and foster deeper connections between fans and their local clubs.
