Bayer Leverkusen in talks with Filipe Luis for managerial role
The German club has identified the former Atletico Madrid defender as their top candidate to replace Kasper Hjulmand.
Bayer Leverkusen have opened negotiations with Brazilian coach Filipe Luis regarding the vacant head coach position. According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the former Atletico Madrid defender is currently the club's priority target.
Filipe Luis previously managed Brazilian side Flamengo, where he oversaw 100 matches and secured 8 trophies before his departure in March 2026.
This search comes as Leverkusen looks to move on from Kasper Hjulmand, who had been in charge since September 2025. Under Hjulmand's management, the team finished the 2025/26 Bundesliga season in 6th place, accumulating 59 points from 34 matches.
