Chelsea forward Joao Pedro is currently preparing to sign a new contract with the club. However, the 24-year-old's future at Stamford Bridge was not always certain during the summer transfer window.
Reports indicate that in late June, Barcelona approached the London side with a proposal worth €80 million. Chelsea were generally open to entering negotiations, and the player himself was reportedly keen on the move. However, the Catalan club eventually made a strategic decision to prioritize the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and pursued Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
Last season, the Brazilian forward recorded 20 goals and 5 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
