16-year-old attacking midfielder Axel Donczew has officially joined Arsenal as part of the club's first-year scholarship intake. The youngster arrives from Cardiff City, where he emerged as a notable talent.

Donczew made headlines last October when he became Cardiff's youngest-ever senior player, appearing as a substitute in an EFL Trophy match against Newport County at just 15 years and 234 days old. He made his second senior appearance for the Bluebirds in December.

Cardiff City stated that they offered terms for the midfielder to continue his development in Wales and made efforts to retain him, but the player opted to pursue a move away. In addition to his scholarship, Donczew has signed a pre-contract agreement with the north London club, which is expected to lead to professional terms in the future.

Internationally, Donczew has represented Wales at the youth level, though he remains eligible to play for Poland.
