The UEFA Technical Observer Group has officially named Barcelona midfielder Alexia Putellas as the 2025-26 Women's Champions League Player of the Season. The accolade follows Barcelona's commanding 4-0 victory over OL Lyonnes in the final held in Oslo, a result that secured the club's fourth continental title.
Putellas proved essential to Barcelona's success throughout the campaign. Over 11 appearances, she recorded 14 direct goal contributions, scoring seven times and adding seven assists. Her technical output was equally impressive, maintaining a passing accuracy of 86.73% while reaching a top speed of 25.77km/h, consistently driving the team forward.
This award marks the second time the midfielder has received the honour, having previously won it in the 2021-22 season. Her success ends a three-year streak held by teammate Aitana Bonmati, highlighting the immense talent depth within the Barcelona squad, which saw five players named in the official Team of the Season.
Additional awards were announced alongside the main prize, with Lyon's Lily Yohannes named Revelation of the Season following her debut campaign. Furthermore, the Goal of the Season award was presented to Julia Bartel for her strike during her loan spell with Atletico Madrid.
