Newly promoted Saudi Roshn League side Al-Diriyah have secured the signing of Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye, beating Al-Ahli to the deal. According to Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah, the 38-year-old has agreed to a one-year contract following his departure from Everton.

Gueye was a key transfer target for Al-Ahli, who were looking to bolster their midfield in anticipation of a potential exit for Enzo Millot, who currently remains outside of head coach Matthias Jaissle's plans. Following this development, Al-Ahli are now expected to redirect their efforts toward signing AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone.

Gueye brings a wealth of experience to his new club, having played for Lille, Aston Villa, Paris Saint-Germain, and Everton throughout a distinguished European career. Last season, he appeared in 25 Premier League matches for the Toffees, recording two goals and three assists. He also represented Senegal in all four of their matches at the 2026 World Cup.
