The 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina secured the highest viewership for Globo among all matches of the tournament that did not feature the Brazilian national team. According to preliminary data, the broadcast of the Spanish 1-0 victory in extra time this Sunday, July 19, registered 29 points on the National Television Panel (PNT).
This figure represents a 77% increase compared to the average of the four previous Sundays in the same time slot. In São Paulo, the final scored 27 points, while in Rio de Janeiro, it reached an average of 31 points.
Before the match, the Closing Ceremony also performed better than the previous edition. The event recorded 14 points, a 9% increase compared to the 2022 World Cup closing ceremony, according to data released by the network.
In the match itself, Spain dominated possession, while Argentina relied on a defensive setup. The momentum shifted when Enzo Fernández was sent off in stoppage time. With a numerical advantage, Spain maintained pressure until Ferran Torres scored the winning goal following a cross from Lamine Yamal and a header from Nico Williams.
