FIFA has named the best player of the 2026 World Cup Round of 32 match between Belgium and Senegal, which ended in a 3-2 victory for the Belgians after extra time. The individual award went to midfielder Youri Tielemans, who played a central role in his team's comeback.
Tielemans scored twice, first equalizing the game in the 89th minute to force extra time. The midfielder then secured the winning goal in the final moments of the second period of extra time, coolly converting a penalty in the 120+5th minute.
Romelu Lukaku also found the net for Belgium during the encounter. Following this result, Belgium has qualified for the World Cup Round of 16, where they are set to face the USA.
