Wrexham continues summer recruitment drive as window deadline nears
Following a seventh-place finish in the Championship, Wrexham are making targeted high-end additions to refine their squad for the new campaign.

Ahead of their second season in the Championship, Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds likened the club's transfer strategy to a home-improvement show: rather than a full-house renovation, the focus is on installing high-end upgrades. While the club has made significant progress, management remains active in the market to finalize their squad.
Coming off a successful seventh-place finish, just one win shy of the play-offs, the club has already integrated Danny Imray, Ben Whiteman, and Anthony Patterson. Unlike last year's disjointed start, manager Phil Parkinson has had the advantage of a full pre-season with the new group, fostering better cohesion.
The defensive improvements remain a top priority after conceding 65 league goals last season. The addition of Ben Whiteman brings vital Championship experience to the holding midfield role, where his defensive metrics were among the highest in the league last term. Similarly, the arrival of goalkeeper Anthony Patterson aims to provide stability, leveraging his proven track record in high-pressure promotion scenarios.
Despite these moves, Parkinson admits the work is not yet finished. With the transfer window open until September 1, Wrexham are still exploring options for a frontline striker and additional defensive cover. As the Championship grows more competitive, the club is prioritizing long-term quality over rushed signings, waiting for the right opportunities to bolster the squad for the challenges ahead.
