Former West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal is preparing for a return to Wembley Stadium as Czechia faces England. The defender remains adamant that his side will not suffer the same fate as Croatia, who were recently dominated by the Three Lions.
We are not afraid of it, we are confident. Of course, we have to respect the quality of the opponent. We don't want to play like the Croatians. Not even by chance do we want to allow such a game. Vladimir Coufal
Coufal’s availability was in doubt just a week ago due to a persistent knee issue that forced him to miss the match against Spain. The 34-year-old underwent intensive treatment, including a plasma injection, to ensure he could return to the pitch. He has since rejoined the team for training at Wembley.
With Ladislav Krejci unavailable due to suspension, Coufal is a natural candidate to take the captain's armband. The defender expressed his deep affection for London and the significance of playing at Wembley, describing the match as a personal "return home" after his successful years in the Premier League.
