Varfolomeev assist helps Lincoln City beat Derby County

Lincoln City kicked off their EFL Cup campaign with a 2-1 away victory against Derby County in the 1/64 round.
Ukrainian midfielder Ivan Varfolomeev played a pivotal role early in the match, providing the assist for Ben House to open the scoring in just the third minute.
Dom Jefferies extended the visitors' lead twenty minutes later. Although Sammy Szmodics pulled one back for the hosts just before halftime, Lincoln held on to secure their progress.
The match serves as a positive indicator for the team following their promotion to the Championship after winning the League 1 title last season.
The team is now turning its attention to the league opener against Middlesbrough, scheduled for August 15.
