Ahead of their upcoming international friendly against India, Uruguay national team players took time to embrace the local culture by testing their batting and bowling skills at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Lucas Torreira and Ronald Araujo were seen enjoying the session at the legendary venue.
Beyond the cricket pitch, the Uruguay squad visited several historic landmarks in the city, including St Paul's Cathedral and the Victoria Memorial. This cultural detour served as a moment of relaxation for the world's 20th-ranked side before shifting focus back to their exhibition match.
Eden Gardens holds nostalgic value for La Celeste, who secured victory in the inaugural Nehru Cup at the stadium back in 1982. This connection to Indian football is further strengthened by head coach Diego Forlan, who previously played for Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League in 2016.
Uruguay is set to face India at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on October 6. The hosts are looking to recover from a 4-0 loss against Brazil at the same venue, while the South Americans aim to maintain momentum following a 4-1 victory over South Korea last month.
