Journalist and commentator Igor Tsyganyk has shared insights into how UAF President Andriy Shevchenko previously viewed the role of Andrea Maldera within his coaching staff. According to Tsyganyk, Shevchenko used to emphasize that Maldera was merely an analyst, while he himself held the authority as the head coach.
Tsyganyk suggested that such comments might have been influenced by jealousy, noting that Shevchenko was always firm about his own decision-making power. The dynamic has now shifted, as the Italian specialist has been appointed head coach of the national team and must now take full responsibility for tactical decisions.
The expert described Maldera as a positive personality but expressed reservations about whether he possesses enough experience for the new role. Maldera is set to face his first test as head coach when Ukraine plays Poland on May 31.
