Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has reached a historic milestone for the Belgium national team. The third group stage match of the 2026 World Cup against New Zealand, which ended in a 5-1 victory for the Belgians, marked the 34-year-old's 18th appearance at a World Cup final tournament.
With this performance, Courtois has become the sole record holder for the most matches played for Belgium at the World Cup. He surpassed the legendary Enzo Scifo, who finished his international career with 17 appearances at the tournament.
