Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo did not hide his disappointment following a 2-4 home loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Despite mounting significant pressure in the second half and registering 27 shots, the hosts could not overturn the deficit after a challenging start to the match.
Poor finishing proved costly for the English club. Semenyo, who recorded an individual xG of 0.45, admitted to missing a prime opportunity to bring the score back to 2-3 early in the second half.
Honestly, it's quite frustrating. I think I'm blaming myself a bit for all those missed chances. However, looking at the team's overall performance, we showed a great reaction and had a strong period where we caused them a lot of problems. We were just unlucky not to score more. We need to take the positives from this game and move on. Antoine Semenyo
The forward also praised the attacking prowess of the reigning European champions. He noted that PSG, boasting some of the world's best players, performed in an unconventional manner that justified their status as tournament favorites.
This defeat marks the first time Manchester City has lost in any competition this season. The club currently sits 17th in the table with 3 points from the opening rounds. Enzo Maresca's side will look to bounce back on October 20th when they host Greek side AEK at the Etihad.
