Sedan misses National 2 promotion after draw with APM Metz
Following a 1-1 draw against APM Metz, Sedan remains in Regional 1. The visitors secured their first-ever promotion to National 2.

The city of Sedan will not see its football club reach the National 2 division this year. Despite the backing of over 8,500 fans at the Stade Louis-Dugauguez, Sedan failed to secure the necessary win against APM Metz. The match ended 1-1, ending the hosts' promotion bid.
Sedan needed a victory by at least two goals to secure a third consecutive promotion. The visitors took the lead just before halftime through Thibaut Jacquel, but Daouda Gueye quickly equalized with an acrobatic overhead kick. After the break, Cédric Clerc's side held firm, neutralizing threats from the opposition.
This match was part of an unusual playoff format involving the three R1 champions of the Grand Est region: Sedan, APM Metz, and the reserves of Nancy. With only one promotion spot available, the draw was sufficient for APM Metz to secure their first-ever place in the fifth tier of French football, while Sedan is set for another season in Regional 1.
