Celtic are reportedly close to signing 19-year-old PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joel van den Berg. A club delegation is currently in the Netherlands to finalize the deal, with the player recently omitted from the Jong PSV squad for their latest match.

However, the Scottish champions face challenges elsewhere. While Niko Sigur of Hajduk Split is keen on a move to Celtic, they face stiff competition from Genk and Toulouse. Furthermore, a move for Partizan Belgrade playmaker Ognjen Ugresic has collapsed, with the Serbian club opting to honor an agreement with PAOK.

Celtic are set to miss out on Ermin Mahmic, who has reportedly agreed to a £4.3m move to Turkish side Corum. Rangers, meanwhile, look unlikely to secure Lens striker Rayan Fofana, as the 20-year-old prefers a loan move to Le Havre in France.

In other news, Dundee United are persisting with their interest in Falkirk midfielder Brad Spencer despite previous friction. Aron Benjaminsen is set to travel to Scotland on Monday to complete his move to Heart of Midlothian.

Nottingham Forest are preparing a bid for 16-year-old St Mirren forward Luke Douglas. Additionally, John McGinn revealed that he was almost a Celtic player before his move to Aston Villa, but the deal failed to materialize.
