Wales goalkeeper Safia Middleton-Patel has secured a move to Watford on a season-long loan from Manchester United for the 2026-27 campaign.
The 21-year-old returns to the club where she spent the latter half of the 2023-24 season, aiming to secure consistent playing time in Women's Super League 2. Her development remains a priority for her parent club, with Manchester United confirming they will be monitoring her progress closely throughout the year.
Middleton-Patel made her senior debut for the Red Devils in December 2024 against Newcastle United. During her time under Marc Skinner, she made three appearances, including a notable outing in the Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford.
With previous loan spells at Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City, and Coventry United, the goalkeeper has built considerable experience. She has also firmly established herself as the number one choice for Wales, having started five of their six World Cup qualifying group stage matches this year.
