Ruben Amorim insists he 'still loves' Manchester United after Milan victory

AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has opened up about his reunion with Manchester United following a 4-2 victory in a pre-season friendly in Wroclaw. Despite the emphatic win, the Portuguese manager insisted that the result was not driven by any lingering bitterness regarding his departure from Old Trafford last January.

United took an early lead through Harry Maguire, but Milan proved more clinical as the game progressed. Goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Alphadjo Cisse, Goncalo Ramos, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek secured the win for the Rossoneri. For Amorim, it was a first-time face-off against his former side since taking over in Italy.

Despite the high-scoring success, Amorim admitted he remains concerned about defensive lapses. He emphasized that conceding avoidable goals in recent friendlies is a primary issue that must be addressed before the competitive season commences.

Addressing the recent omissions of high-profile players like Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana, and Christopher Nkunku, Amorim explained that a squad of nearly 40 players was simply unmanageable. He described the decision to leave established names out of matchday squads as a necessary step for the development of his new project, acknowledging that it is a difficult but essential part of preparing for the campaign ahead.
