Ruben Amorim hits back at Man Utd legends after AC Milan move

New AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim has fired back at the pundits who criticised his tenure at Manchester United. Following a difficult spell at Old Trafford, which saw the club record its lowest-ever Premier League finish, the Portuguese coach faced relentless scrutiny from former greats including Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and Paul Scholes.

Addressing the pressure of managing a historic club while dealing with vocal alumni, Amorim suggested that these media voices are disconnected from the realities of the modern game.

"I was in a club in the past with a lot of legends, and they have big opinions, and they talk a lot about things. They lived in a time that was completely different."

During his time in England, Amorim was frequently targeted, with Paul Scholes notably claiming the manager did not "get the club." At the time, Amorim defended his record by arguing that legends often struggled to reconcile their memories of Sir Alex Ferguson's trophy-laden era with the current reality of a club enduring a long league title drought.

Now looking to rebuild his reputation in Serie A, Amorim is focusing entirely on the task at San Siro. He acknowledges that delivering results at another historic club remains the only way to silence his critics.
