Roma considering shock move for free agent Wilfried Zaha

Following the conclusion of the summer transfer window, Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini remains focused on filling a glaring vacancy in his squad: a natural left-sided attacker. Despite a busy window that saw several arrivals, the Italian coach has been vocal about his desire to add more balance to his forward line.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club is evaluating veteran options to solve this issue, with former Crystal Palace icon Wilfried Zaha emerging as a primary candidate. The 33-year-old Ivory Coast international is currently a free agent following his departure from Galatasaray and a loan spell at Charlotte FC. Zaha brings extensive experience, having made 458 appearances for the Eagles during his time in England.

The Giallorossi are also keeping doors open to other experienced free agents who could fit Gasperini’s system. Among those mentioned are Raphael Guerreiro, formerly of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, and 27-year-old Senegalese winger Krepin Diatta, who recently left Monaco.

However, any deal comes with a significant administrative hurdle. Roma have already finalized their squad list for the Champions League league phase. While there is one vacancy left in their 25-man quota, registration is locked until February 4. This means any new signing would be ineligible for European competition until the knockout stages, limiting their immediate impact to domestic fixtures.
