Riccardo Calafiori: One day I will return to Roma
Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori shares his thoughts on winning the Premier League, the upcoming Champions League match, and his desire to play for Roma again.
Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori has become a key part of the Arsenal squad following his summer move from Bologna. In his debut season in London, he has already secured a Premier League title and is now preparing for a major Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Calafiori admitted that winning the English league was a dream come true, describing the final whistle of the Bournemouth vs. Manchester City game—which the team watched together—as a turning point. "It felt like a weight was lifted off many at the club after twenty-two years without the title," he recalled.
Winning the Premier League was one of my dreams. Considering how the season went for us, it was incredible. Riccardo Calafiori
Looking ahead, Riccardo does not hide his deep affection for his former club, AS Roma. As a product of the club's youth academy, he harbors a strong desire to return to the Stadio Olimpico as a player in the future.
"I have always been a fan. I hope they can return to the level I was used to in my childhood. I hope that one day I will return to that arena as a Roma player," Calafiori stated.
The defender also noted the clear difference in intensity between Serie A and the Premier League, explaining that the primary distinction lies in the rigorous schedule, which forces the training philosophy at Arsenal to focus heavily on recovery to ensure players are in peak condition for matchdays.
