Wolves and Mexico forward Raul Jimenez has been ruled out of action until January after it was determined he requires surgery on a left knee ligament injury. The decision follows a period of unsuccessful conservative rehabilitation.

The forward sustained the medial collateral ligament damage during a Carabao Cup defeat to Everton on September 16. Wolves director of performance Phil Hayward confirmed that regular scans over the last three weeks showed the injury was not responding as expected, necessitating the upcoming procedure in London.

Unfortunately Raul's injury has not responded as we expected. Normally the ligament for a fairly low-grade injury would heal on its own, however this has not responded as we were expecting, and after regularly scanning for the last three weeks, the ligament is not healing in the anticipated way. The absence is a significant setback for Wolves, who are currently 10th in the Championship and aiming to close the gap on the play-off spots. It also comes at a difficult time for the Mexico national team under new manager Rafael Marquez, with Jimenez set to miss both legs of their Concacaf Nations League quarter-final against Jamaica in mid-November.

In more positive news for the club, Hayward provided updates on other sidelined players. Rodrigo Gomes, Bertrand Traore, and Boubacar Traore are all making progress in their respective recoveries, with the latter expected to return to full training within the next two weeks.
