Pep Guardiola’s long-term representative, Josep Maria Orobitg, has confirmed that Al-Nassr reached out to the manager following the announcement that he will leave Manchester City this summer after a decade at the club.
Speculation had suggested the Saudi club was prepared to offer a world-record salary to pair the Spanish tactician with Cristiano Ronaldo. However, speaking to the Saudi outlet Okaz, Orobitg moved to clarify the situation and dismiss reports of a massive €130 million-per-season package.
There was contact a month and a half ago, just contact, without any commitment or written offer. It's not that much money. Josep Maria Orobitg
The agent also revealed that the Saudi Arabian Federation had made contact about 15 days ago. Despite the interest from the region, Orobitg indicated that no further talks are planned and that the current chances of a deal are slim.
Guardiola will manage Manchester City for the final time this Sunday as his team faces Aston Villa in their season finale. Once the season concludes, he is set to transition into his new executive role as a Global Ambassador for the City Football Group.
