Panathinaikos part ways with Rafael Benitez: A chance for Serhiy Rebrov?
The Greek club has officially parted ways with the 66-year-old Spanish manager after a disappointing league campaign.
Panathinaikos have officially announced the departure of head coach Rafael Benitez. Both parties agreed to terminate the contract following the club's failure to meet their objectives this season.
The 66-year-old Spaniard had been in charge since last October. During his tenure, the team played 41 matches, recording 20 wins, 11 draws, and ten defeats, with a goal difference of 60:44.
The club finished fourth in the Greek league this season, ending 20 points behind the champions, AEK. As a result, they have secured a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.
With the managerial position now vacant, reports suggest that Serhiy Rebrov is being considered as a potential successor. The Greek club had previously expressed interest in the former Dynamo Kyiv and Ukraine coach before appointing Benitez.
