Official: Alexander Nübel returns to Bayern Munich after Stuttgart loan
Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel is leaving Stuttgart following the end of his loan spell. The player returns to his parent club, Bayern Munich.
German club Stuttgart has officially announced the departure of 29-year-old goalkeeper Alexander Nübel. With the 2025/26 season concluding, his loan spell has ended, and the two clubs could not reach an agreement for the goalkeeper to remain with the team.
Nübel spent the last three years at Stuttgart, becoming a cornerstone of the squad and making 129 appearances. During his tenure, he helped the team win the German Cup in the 2024/25 season. They had the opportunity to defend that title this year but ultimately fell 3-0 to Bayern Munich in the final.
The goalkeeper originally joined Bayern Munich from Schalke back in 2020. After a challenging first season in Munich where he made only four appearances, the club opted to send him out on a two-year loan to Monaco, followed by a three-year stint at Stuttgart. Despite his limited action in Bavaria, his trophy cabinet already boasts a Bundesliga title, a UEFA Super Cup, and a German Super Cup.
Nübel now returns to Bayern Munich, where he will be looking to integrate back into the squad and determine his next steps within the club's plans.
