Germany’s national team has been dealt a defensive blow ahead of their crucial Nations League fixtures. Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck has been officially ruled out of the upcoming matches against Serbia and Greece.
The German football association (DFB) confirmed the news on Wednesday, stating that the 26-year-old suffered a lateral ligament injury in his right ankle during the squad's final training session. The injury occurred during a light warm-up, and subsequent MRI scans confirmed the extent of the damage.

For Jurgen Klopp, who is still looking for his first win as Germany head coach, the absence of a key defender complicates an already challenging start to the Nations League campaign, where Germany sits third in League A, Group 2.
