Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick as Poland thrashed 10-man Romania 6-0 in the Nations League. The match, held in Warsaw, turned one-sided after Romania defender Radu Dragusin was sent off in the 22nd minute.
Lewandowski opened the scoring from the penalty spot and struck twice more to complete his seventh international hat-trick, bringing his total tally for Poland to 92 goals. For Romania, the defeat marks a difficult start for manager Gheorghe Hagi, who has now lost his first three competitive matches in his second spell in charge.
In the same group, there were emotional scenes as Edin Dzeko retired from international football following Bosnia-Herzegovina's 1-1 draw with Sweden. The 40-year-old forward, who made 152 appearances for his country, was given a standing ovation when substituted after 62 minutes in Zenica.
The celebrations for Dzeko continued after the final whistle with an official ceremony, a guard of honour, and a drone show featuring messages of thanks. The forward was also showered with soft toys from the crowd as he completed a final lap of honour.
