Ukraine U-19 head coach Dmytro Mykhailenko has shared his thoughts following the victory over Serbia, which secured a semi-final spot in the U-19 Euro 2026 and qualification for the 2027 U-20 World Cup.
I was very happy, honestly. I didn't even think we would solve the task after two matches – making it to the World Cup. And quite confidently, one might say. Dmytro Mykhailenko
The coach highlighted the performance of Vitaliy Glyut, who was called up shortly before the tournament. Although the staff initially planned to use him as a substitute, his impressive work in training and match readiness earned him a place in the starting lineup.
Addressing the team's ability to come from behind in consecutive matches, Mykhailenko described it as a sign of character rather than just class. He noted that the squad remained calm after conceding, maintaining their tactical discipline rather than panicking.
Mykhailenko also highlighted the inclusion of five players born in 2008, noting that their contribution demonstrates the overall potential of Ukrainian youth football development.
