Mourinho issues warning: Vinícius Júnior treatment like 'schoolyard bullying'

Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has voiced strong concerns regarding the treatment of Vinícius Júnior by opponents and match officials. Speaking ahead of his side's home fixture against Real Sociedad, Mourinho highlighted a specific unpunished early kick on the Brazilian winger during their recent 2–1 victory over Espanyol.

Mourinho did not hold back in his assessment, comparing the recurring pattern of fouls to schoolyard bullying. He argued that opponents are emboldened when officials fail to issue early cautions for aggressive play.

«It's like kids. Little kids go as far as you allow them to. With players, it's the same», — said José Mourinho.

The manager criticized the use of VAR during the Espanyol clash, insisting that protecting players from persistent aggression is the fundamental responsibility of the match officials. While acknowledging that Vinícius could refine his own conduct—particularly his interactions with opposition crowds—Mourinho maintained that the physical safety of players against frustration-based kicks remains squarely in the hands of the referees.
