Michele Kang: London City Lionesses' new training ground will surpass Premier League standards

Michele Kang, owner of London City Lionesses, has revealed that the club's new training center is on track to open within the next year. She stated that the facility, designed by an architect with extensive experience in Premier League infrastructure, will set a new benchmark for the women's game, potentially surpassing the facilities used by the majority of men's top-flight clubs.

This investment is central to Kang’s mission of ensuring equality for female athletes. She argues that for too long, women have been treated as "small men" rather than elite athletes, and she is committed to providing infrastructure that allows them to thrive without the limitations of inadequate equipment or public-park training conditions.

Beyond providing elite training space, the center will also support medical research dedicated to female athlete health. Kang emphasized that the industry has historically neglected this area, noting that women are significantly more prone to ACL injuries than men, yet the vast majority of sports science research remains focused on male physiology.

Operating as an independent women's club, London City Lionesses serves as a model for Kang’s wider multi-club ownership strategy, which spans the United States, England, and France. Her ultimate goal is to expand this model to Asia, Africa, and South America to ensure that world-class facilities become the norm globally rather than an exception in a few countries.

When asked for her message to the rest of the Women's Super League, Kang was direct: "Invest."
