Michel Salgado to manage Brazil's North Esporte Club from 2027
Former Real Madrid defender and Javier Aguirre's ex-assistant Michel Salgado will become the head coach of Brazilian fourth-division side North Esporte Club in 2027.
North Esporte Club, a side competing in the fourth division of Brazilian football, has officially announced the appointment of Michel Salgado as their new head coach. The Spanish coach is set to take charge of the team based in Montes Claros starting in 2027.
In a statement regarding the new project, Salgado expressed his enthusiasm: "I like challenges, and I am anxious to travel to Brazil and ready to achieve great results."
This appointment marks the first time Salgado will serve as a head coach on a permanent basis. His previous managerial experience has been limited, having served as an assistant to Javier Aguirre for the Egypt national team and holding an interim role at Cypriot side Pafos.
Salgado's tenure with Aguirre in Egypt lasted less than a year, during which the staff managed 12 matches with a record of nine wins, one draw, and two defeats. The move to Brazil presents a significant career step for the former Real Madrid defender as he transitions into a lead managerial role.
