During a training session in Kansas, Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman held an individual conversation with forward Memphis Depay. The meeting took place during a practice session involving players who did not start in the recent 3-1 victory over Tunisia.
The discussion was notable as it included a brief appearance by Dutch icon Mark van Bommel, who was visiting the team's training camp. The dialogue between the coach and the player has drawn attention given Depay's current role as a substitute during the tournament, despite holding the record as the Netherlands' all-time top scorer.
Throughout the group stage, the forward has made three appearances off the bench, accumulating 51 minutes of play and recording one assist. His average performance rating has been recorded at 6.43.
This discussion comes just days before the Netherlands' decisive second-round match against Morocco. The game is scheduled for Monday, June 29, at El Gigante de Acero in Mexico, marking the Dutch team's first match outside the United States in the current tournament.
