Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has addressed the future of defender Hiroki Ito, admitting that the club is open to a potential sale this summer. The 27-year-old faces significant competition for playing time, leading to speculation regarding his position in the squad.
"If Hiroki Ito should have any thoughts of a move, because he himself realises it is becoming difficult, then we will address it," Eberl stated during a media round on Wednesday.
Ito joined Bayern in 2024 from VfB Stuttgart for €23.5 million and is under contract until 2028. However, recurring injury issues have hindered his progress. He currently faces a crowded defensive rotation, with Alphonso Davies and Nathaniel Brown competing at left-back, while Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, and Min-Jae Kim are preferred in the center.
Beyond Ito, the club is also expecting departures for Joao Palhinha, Sacha Boey, and Bryan Zaragoza as they look to streamline their roster.
