Marco Baroni has officially returned to Verona. The 62-year-old Italian tactician will take charge of the team as they prepare for life in Serie B, with the primary objective being an immediate return to Italy's top flight.
His contract with the club runs until the summer of 2028 and includes an option to extend for an additional season. Baroni is set to officially begin his duties on July 1.
This marks Baroni's third stint with the club. He previously played for Verona between 1995 and 1998 and managed the team during the 2023/24 season, leading them to a 13th-place finish in Serie A. Since his last departure, he has had spells with Lazio and Torino.
The appointment is a strategic move for Verona, as Baroni has a proven track record of securing promotion to Serie A, having previously achieved the feat with Benevento and Lecce. Following their relegation last season, the club is banking on his experience to navigate the challenges of the second division.
