Head coach Marc Skinner has left Manchester United Women by mutual agreement. His departure comes just one month ahead of the new Women's Super League (WSL) season.
Skinner's exit follows a period of frustration regarding the club's transfer window activity. Despite his repeated calls for squad investment to compete on all fronts, United has secured only two new arrivals: defender Andrea Medina and backup goalkeeper Janina Leitzig. Meanwhile, rivals like Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea have been significantly more aggressive in the market, raising concerns about United's competitiveness for the upcoming campaign.
During his five-year tenure, Skinner delivered notable achievements, including an FA Cup victory, a Champions League quarter-final appearance, and a genuine title challenge in the 2022-23 season. However, he also faced criticism from supporters regarding tactics and team selection, particularly after the team's fifth-place finish last season.
