The search for a new full-back is driven by the persistent availability issues surrounding Luke Shaw. The 31-year-old, who has been with the club since 2014, has struggled to maintain fitness this season, appearing in only four Premier League matches and missing several others entirely.

While the defender from Club Brugge remains a primary focus, the club has not entirely ruled out a future move for Newcastle United's Lewis Hall.
