Manchester United considered signing Zinchenko to replace injured Shaw

Manchester United considered signing Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko to address personnel shortages at left-back. The club's interest was driven by the recurring fitness issues surrounding their primary option, Luke Shaw.

Alongside the Ukrainian, the Old Trafford hierarchy also explored the possibility of signing David Alaba, who was available as a free agent. However, after assessing the situation, the club decided against entering the free-agent market.

Management and the coaching staff reached a consensus to address the defensive gaps using internal resources. Plans are in place for the left-back position to be covered by Patrick Dorgu, Noussair Mazraoui, and Harry Amass.

Previously, reports indicated that Juventus had also considered an approach for Zinchenko due to their own injury crisis.
