Sporting director Jason Wilcox has reportedly initiated preliminary contact with the player's representatives. The 29-year-old French striker has made only one appearance in the Premier League during the 2026/27 season, having been sidelined by injury shortly after the opening round.

Despite the interest, United’s pursuit is tempered by a restricted budget for attacking reinforcements. Strengthening the midfield remains the primary priority for the club, meaning funds are limited. According to Transfermarkt, the forward currently holds a market value of 30 million euros.
