Manchester United appoint Eva Olid as new head coach
Eva Olid has taken charge of the Manchester United women's team following the shock departure of Marc Skinner.

Manchester United have officially unveiled Eva Olid as their new head coach for the women's team. Her appointment was confirmed just two days after the surprise exit of long-serving boss Marc Skinner, who mutually terminated his contract following a resignation offer.
Skinner's departure occurred amidst a quiet summer transfer window, fueling uncertainty regarding United's competitiveness for the upcoming WSL campaign. The club has shifted its strategic focus toward developing academy talent and integrating young prospects, a profile that Olid was identified as the ideal candidate to lead.
The 43-year-old manager has signed a two-year deal with the option for an additional year. She arrives following a highly successful five-year tenure at Scottish side Hearts, where she led the club to four consecutive top-half finishes, a Scottish Cup final, and the program's first-ever SWPL title.

Despite this new era, Manchester United face a significant rebuild. Following the departures of multiple senior players, including Leah Galton and Millie Turner, the squad remains thin. Olid's immediate challenge will be balancing the integration of youth prospects with the necessity of further reinforcements to compete for Champions League qualification.
