Manchester City clear-out continues as Bah and Echeverri set for deadline day exits

Manchester City are finalizing the departures of defender Juma Bah and playmaker Claudio Echeverri ahead of the transfer deadline. The moves are part of a tactical squad overhaul initiated by new manager Enzo Maresca for the 2026-27 campaign.
Juma Bah, the 20-year-old Sierra Leone international, is set to join German side Augsburg on an initial loan deal. The agreement includes a permanent purchase option valued at £18.5 million for next summer. Bah, who arrived from Real Valladolid in 2025 for £7 million, remains under contract with the Etihad side until 2031.
Meanwhile, Portuguese giants Benfica are leading the race to sign Claudio Echeverri. The 20-year-old Argentine is expected to join on an initial loan with a purchase option included. Since his arrival from River Plate, Echeverri has struggled to break into the first team, following difficult loan spells at Bayer Leverkusen and Girona.
These exits follow the recent loan switch of Jack Grealish to Everton, a move linked to the arrival of Iliman Ndiaye. As Maresca works to balance his squad, the club is also pushing to complete a club-record deal for Enzo Fernandez. This aggressive deadline-day activity is aimed at ensuring the squad is fully prepared for both domestic and European challenges before the international break.
