Manchester City have moved to secure 17-year-old Leicester City prospect Jeremy Monga, with an agreement in principle worth £12.5m reported.

The move represents a significant tactical win for City, who have gazumped Arsenal at the final hurdle. The Gunners had been in a strong position to acquire the teenager, but interest from the Etihad side accelerated under manager Enzo Maresca, who previously worked with the youngster during his tenure at the King Power Stadium.

Monga, an England youth international, made history last season as Leicester's youngest-ever starter. Across 37 appearances for the Foxes, he showcased versatility across both wings. His Premier League debut came in April 2025 under Ruud van Nistelrooy, establishing him as one of the youngest players to feature in the top flight.

It remains to be seen whether Monga will be integrated into the first-team squad immediately or begin his tenure within the academy setup. There is speculation that he could join the squad for the upcoming pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Seoul to begin his adaptation.

"It was a crazy experience. At first I was obviously nervous but when I got onto the pitch all the nerves went away as I had to switch on. I feel like I did all right, I could have done better," said Jeremy Monga.
